I can’t find Lao Huo Tang in any food courts anymore. The only way to enjoy their soups is at their various restaurant outlets. This also means the prices have increased and become less affordable over the years. A Lotus Root Soup now costs $13.80++, and Buddha Jumps Over the Wall will set you back $23.80++! The good thing is that the portions are larger, and the taste remains top-notch. It was a pleasant surprise when we were told we could ask for a one-time refill of our soups. However, I wish they offered more sauce options to go with the dishes. They only had cut chili with soy sauce, or so we were told. Also, expect to wait a while for your soups to be ready, which I never quite understand. Aren’t the soups already prepared in the big pots? I would definitely come more often if the soups weren’t so expensive.

If u want to have good quality soups but hate sweating out eating at hawker centres/ coffee shops… this is the plc. It offers a variety of good, wholesome boiled soups in a spacious aircon seatings. Ordered the lotus root peanut soup. The soup was good, and it’s not too salty. (For those want it more salty, can add to taste at your preference) The pumpkin rice was soft and nice too. Will be back to try their other soups in future.

the food of this is branch is so good. We have tried many branches around the island. Staffs are friendly and nice. Keep it up. The customers were noisier here though. Very noisy until I need to increase my voice. But still highly recommended for the food.

Ordered the pork ribs soup and the crispy lotus root for dinner. The soup is nice and hot, broth is thick and tasty. It's nice to be able to top up the soup if you needed more, however, it's only 1x. The crispy lotus root is a bit soft and would have been much nicer if they were all crispy. Still a good place to dine if you are a soup lover. There are many options to try. Recommended

Had a bak kwa fried rice and the lotus root pork rib soup for lunch. Including one chinese tea about $39.00. The rice was v good, fragrant and not too oily. Would recommend. The soup wasn't out of the world but hearty and the ribs were tender but I think there could've been more. They offer free soup refill though which is nice. Overall quite good.

I used to visit The Soup Restaurant at their JEM branch, and it’s always been a comforting spot for a simple, hearty meal. One of the standout items for me is their lotus soup – it’s flavourful, soothing, and perfect for a rainy day. I especially appreciate that they offer refills once you’ve finished the first pot, which is a rare and generous touch these days. The tofu dish was decent – nothing particularly memorable, but it paired well with the rest of the meal. As for the roast chicken, it leaned a little on the dry side, but still tasted alright and was acceptable overall. All in all, The Soup Restaurant continues to deliver a satisfying dining experience. I’ll definitely be back again!

I love the soup and portion, the soup was a hit and the rest I find it to be room for improvement. The pork vinegar wasn’t sour enough, the bee hoon doesn’t have wok hey taste. Service was prompt me attentive.. waiting time was reasonable.

Rated this for the overall dining experience - a cozy spot for Chinese cuisine at reasonable prices. Would definitely come again when craving comfort and a quiet dining environment. We ordered the National Day set, and I’d say it was worth the bucks. The additional dishes we tried were all lightly warm, which made me guess they were prepared earlier and kept in the bain-marie. Personally, I prefer my food served hot, especially at a Chinese restaurant. The only dish that arrived piping hot was the salted egg lotus root. Overall, the flavours were average and comforting. Now, onto the most important part - the soup! I was pleasantly surprised to know they offer a one-time refill, which is such a thoughtful gesture for a soup lover like me. But a little heads-up to all soup people out there: this isn’t your typical hawker or home-style soup. It’s boiled for a long time, so it’s thicker and less smooth on the throat. The soups we had were quite meaty and hearty, not exactly light or refreshing, but perfect if you’re looking for something warm and filling! Oh, and one more thing! The pumpkin rice totally surprised me! I don’t even like pumpkin, but the rice was so flavourful and full of dried shrimp aroma. Dried shrimp lovers, please order this! I finished the whole bowl without even realising it.
